Winter Fuel Payment and other benefits
Changes to the Winter Fuel Payment for this year mean that only people over State Pension age who qualify for Pension Credit or certain other benefits will be able to get the payment.
What is Pension Credit?
You can get Pension Credit if you are over State Pension age and on a low income. It tops up your income to a certain amount decided by the government. If you qualify for Pension Credit, you could also get help with housing costs, Council Tax, NHS costs and with energy costs over winter. When you are 75 or over, you can also apply for a free TV licence if you are getting Pension Credit.
